There is a saying that goes something like this:

When we are in our 20’s we have the skin we were born with

When we are in our 30’s the skin we have grown into

When we are in our 40’s the skin we deserve

When we are in our 50’s the skin we wish we had of looked after.

What do you have?

Why is our neck often forgotten?

Why is our neck often forgotten?

When reading about or buying skincare products we are always being reminded to look after our face and bodies, make sure we cleanse, tone and moisturise our face, use a facial scrub once a week and a mask to keep it firm, toned and youthful. Also use exfoliant and moisturiser on our bodies to keep them supple.  Well what good is having a good body and a great face if your neck is neglected and looks loose and mottled, showing your age or making you look even older than your age?

We need to remember not to stop at our face, but also think of your neck every time you do your beauty routine. Think of your neck as an extension of your face. It is never too late to start. I was always a sun lover in my younger days, the more my skin burnt the happier l was. I guess that’s what you call being young and stupid. So, as l matured, all that damage l had done as a teenager was now coming to the surface and it was time to pay for my stupidity. I can’t claim to have a wrinkle free neck and décolletage, but certainly it is less wrinkled and clearer than l deserve.

Following are some tips for a younger, clearer looking neck.

Cleanse, tone and moisturise your neck as well when doing your facial routine. Once a week exfoliate your neck and use a mask. This will help remove dead skin cells and your neck will appear brighter. Applying a mask to the neck area will help match the neck colour to the face colour.

Always apply a sunscreen, even if you are staying indoors. Get into the habit of applying this daily in your routine. Remember, even when you are staying indoors the amount of times you will still go outside whether it’s to the clothes line, picking kids up, driving home from work or collecting mail. Every time you step outside you will be protected and sunscreen will keep you younger looking.

Wear a hat and sunscreen to protect your face, neck and eyes. Before putting sunglasses on make sure you go outside without glasses for a short time. Also remember you do need a little sun each day.

Don’t apply perfume to your neck area because this will cause discolouration, making your neck look unattractive. When perfume is sprayed on the neck it reacts to the sun and causes discolouration. If you are saying “too late….” we can give you some hints to help remove dark marks giving you a clearer looking neck. It’s never too late.

Neck exercises are vital and can be done anywhere at anytime, helping your neck look slender and wrinkle free.

Neck exercises

  1. Stretch your neck from side to side. This will also help with flexibility and stiffness.
  2. Breathe slowly and bring your neck down slowly to rest on your chest. Raise your head up slowly and bend head back as far as you can.
  3. Keep your posture straight throughout the day. Remember to walk with a straight back, straighten yourself when sitting in a chair and take breaks to stretch and walk around. Keep stress off your neck, particularly when bending over a computer or desk.
  4. Hold your head high with your chin up and slightly forward.

Benefits of Organic Coconut Oil

Benefits of Organic Coconut Oil

Well, l have been using organic coconut oil for a few years now and l have to say it is one of the best products on the market. I use it as bath oil, as an eye make-up remover, moisturizer, conditioning treatment for my hair and, after doing dishes, on my hands. Organic Coconut oil is full of wonderful benefits that help you starting from your head right down to your feet. Coconut oil is natural and very beneficial as an anti-aging, anti wrinkle and anti oxidant treatment. It not only acts as an antioxidant and skin nourisher, but also increases the self-made antioxidant level of the body. Coconut oil can be described as the healthiest oil on Earth.

I use coconut oil as my cooking oil, in recipes, and if l have a cold or flu l put a tablespoon in a hot tea to help recover quickly. When using coconut oil for cooking do not overdo it, or like anything you will get sick of it quickly. That would be a shame because it is great oil for flavouring a meal.

What do we really do to our skin??

What do we really do to our skin??

I, like most people, believed that using products that were advertised as helping your skin, making your skin healthier, clearer, fresher looking, giving you a healthy glow and of course in later years helping your skin stay young looking, helping with wrinkles, were products l wanted to be using on my skin. Well now l know better and we all need to know exactly what we are putting on our skin, bodies and heads.

Companies are often using chemicals in their products that are causing us health problems. Many years ago l became quite ill and couldn’t understand why l was tired, lethargic and l found l was constantly scratching my arms and legs. Many tests later l found it was caused by formaldehyde. Did you know that many of the Brazilian Keratin hair straightening products that are now on the market contain high levels of formaldehyde in them?

Nail polishes, nail polish removers and artificial nail products contain a host of toxic chemicals. Have you ever had a reaction after having your nails done? I know many clients that have. The lipstick you are using could contain lead and we all know that’s not good for us. Companies don’t have to list when putting out a new fragrance what is in them, as this is well kept a secret. Fragrance manufacturers don’t want fragrant notes to be copied so really they can put in what they want, often consisting of dozens of synthetic chemical compounds. So is it no wonder you can’t explain a breakout, rash or sensitivity you may have because you have used the same products for years so it can’t be a reaction to a new product. Well it can be a build up over a period of time that now is showing up.

Take a look at your products and check what you are putting on your face and body making sure it is safe for you to be using. Really, you wouldn’t eat something that you know is toxic so why would you put it on your face or body???

Don’t you Hate Those Dark Under Eye Circles??

When it comes to those dark under eye circles, you need to make sure you are following a few rules. Make sure you are extremely gentle with your eyes, try not to pull, rub,or touch them too often. Gentle when removing  eye make-up, and use a very gentle cleanser. Make sure you never go out in the sun without sunglasses we need to protect your skin from melanin changes , even to put clothes on the line you need to protect your eyes.

We need to follow a good diet, eat plenty of leafy green vegetables, plenty of fruit and vegetables are extremely important, especially cabbage and spinach.  Plenty of water not too much before bedtime . Fluids before bed can contribute/add a bag under the eyes .When a clients has had a good nights sleep, you notice a huge differance in dark circles , lack of sleep will make dark circles stand out more Try not to indulge in alchohol, have in moderation. If you do smoke this will make your blood vessels more prominent and blue.

What to do…..

Slice a cucumber into thick slices. Cucumber that has been chilled is not only great for tired eyes, puffiness it is also a great pick me up, make sure to cover dark circle area. Lay back and relax for 10-15 minutes, if not longer.

Place two tea bags in water, cool down and apply to eyes. The tannin in the tea bags reduce swelling and discoloration. If you don’t have tea bags, use ice cubes placed in a face washer, place on eyes for 10-15 minutes, lay back and relax, this will also help with dark cicles and puffiness.

Use a potato. Place an uncooked potato that you have liquidized in a ball or in netting, something that will hold it in place on the eye area. This should be chilled and would be a  great one to try  when you have more time. Lay back as this will have a large amount of juice, so keep eyes shut for 15 minutes.

Hope these help, it is best to choose one, keep it going for a week or two. Then try another for the same period. Some people find one that works really well. YOU CAN ONLY TRY>>>>

Good Luck….  Eleni

Classes for Collagen Induction Therapy have opened and are booking fast.

This is a treatment that incorporates a process of a roller with titanium alloy needles, that generates natural collagen. The upper dermis remains undamaged so there is no down time. The treatment can be done anywhere on the body except the lips, eyelids or over suface veins. It can be used on all skin types and is great for aged mature skin. The rollers are made by an Australian owned company with a TGA listing so quality and safety are of a high standard. These needles are designed to be rolled onto the skin creating tiny puntures within the eperdermis and the dermis which will encourage the skins own natural responses.

Micro-needling is beneficial for Anti-ageing/Wrinkles, Stretch marks, Acne, Scarring, hair loss/thinning, Collagen induction. In a salon, this treatment would cost you around $500+ for your first treatment and 300+ for every treatment following, you would do a course of 3-8 treatments. Why should we have facials ?

Have you ever had a facial ?  I hope if you have, it was an enjoyable experience , because facials should not only be beneficial they should be relaxing and make you want to hurry up and have another one.  We have a lot of different facials to choose from in our beauty salons, once you see all the different choices, it can become quite confusing, so always have a chat to your beauty therapist so you fully understand ,what it is you are having or what it is your after.

It is a good idea to try and have a facial once a month if you can afford it.  Try and find a salon where you feel comfortable and well looked after, and soon they will get to know your skin characteristics and you will find your skin is looking healthier, plumper and younger in no time.

So why should we have facials??    It rejuvenates your skin , tightens, firms, smooths texture of your skin, hydrations, removes blackheads, congestion, softens fine lines, and massage helps our facial muscles.

Have a great one

Shelly

Want to thicken your eyebrows??

If you suffer from thin eyebrows or eyelashes that are hardly visable because they are short and thin follow this little tip.

Every morning and again just before bedtime put castor oil on both your brow and eyelashes, this will thicken them over time.

If you wear mascara during the day, keep it just for the evening, though you can still put the oil on your brows.

Castor oil is inexpensive and can alway be purchased from a chemist.

Good luck  l know this works, so keep it up and you will see for yourself.

See you  next Tip
